Yes, tallow balm can become firm in cooler temperatures. To soften it, simply let it sit at room temperature for a few hours before use. The warmth of your hands will also help melt it into a spreadable consistency.

Why does my tallow balm feel grainy?

A grainy texture can sometimes occur in tallow balms due to the natural crystallization of fats when they cool unevenly. This doesn’t affect the quality or effectiveness of the product and is entirely normal. This is why it's important to refrigerate the tallow balm immediately after delivery. Once it is cooled, you may leave it on the counter as usual. You can also warm a small amount between your fingers before applying, and it will melt down beautifully.
